Born on 20 March 1953 in Warsaw; daughter of Edward Głębicki and the bank employee Janina, née Winclechter. She attended the A. Frycz Modrzewski Grammar School (No. 17) in Warsaw between 1968 and 1972. She subsequently studied classical philology at the University of Warsaw (UW). After graduating with a master's degree in 1977, she worked for the philosophy editorial board of Polish Scientific Publishers (Państwowe Wydawnictwo Naukowe – PWN), initially as an assistant editor and then from 1980 as an editor, before being appointed senior editor in 1986. She also translated the works of Greek philosophers, most notably Aristotle and Plato, into Polish. At the same time, she developed her research on Old Polish poetry written in Latin. In 1979, she produced a table of poetic meters used in Jan Kochanowski's Latin poems for the parliamentary edition of his collected works (Dzieła). In 1986, she defended her doctoral thesis, Łacińskojęzyczna twórczość Franciszka Dionizego Kniaźnina (Franciszek Dionizy Kniaźnin's Latin-language works) at UW. She was supervised by Prof. Jerzy Axer. She received the prize of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for her study. The following year she joined the Polish Academy of Sciences' Institute of Literary Studies (IBL PAN) where she was appointed associate lecturer at the Department of the History of Old Polish Literature. In 1987, she made her debut as a translator with Polish versions of Latin texts published in the anthology Toć jest dziwne a nowe (This is Indeed Strange and Novel). She also translated from French and Greek into Polish. She published her research and reviews in periodicals and journals including "Pamiętnik Literacki" (1988, 1989 and 1998), "Wiek Oświecenia" (1989), "Filomata" (1991), "Ricerche Slavistiche" (Rome; 1991 and 1994), "Odrodzenie i Reformacja w Polsce" (1993 and 2001), and "Barok" (1998). She visited Rome on many occasions, including as a fellow of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (in 1989 and 1991) and of the De Brzezie Lanckoronski Foundation (in 1993, 1995 and 1999). In 1990, she was appointed to the Neo-Latin Commission of the Committee on Ancient Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 1992, she was associated with the Centre for the Study of Classical Tradition in Poland and East-Central Europe at the University of Warsaw. She was involved in several research projects, including Łacina w Polsce (Latin in Poland). In 1997 she moved to the Department of the History of Renaissance and Baroque Literature at IBL PAN. From 2000 she also collaborated with the Center for Philological Studies and Scholarly Editing at IBL PAN as a member of the editorial team working on the series Biblioteka Pisarzy Staropolskich (Library of Old Polish Writers). She was awarded a habilitation degree in 2003 for her study Szymon Szymonowic. Poeta Latinus and was subsequently appointed senior lecturer at IBL PAN. In 2003/04 she taught Old Polish literature at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw. In 2006 she also worked in the nineteenth-century collections (Gabinet Zbiorów XIX wieku) at the University of Warsaw Library, focusing on nineteenth-century editions of Old Polish literature. She also started cataloguing the library of the Royal Society of Friends of Learning (Królewskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk), but was unable to complete the project. In 2007/08, she ran a seminar on Old Polish literature and culture (Literatura i kultura staropolska) as part of the doctoral programme at IBL PAN. She was involved in planning the research project Machiavelli i machiawelizm w przestrzeni kulturowej Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów i debacie politycznej epok późniejszych (Machiavelli and Machiavellianism in the Cultural Sphere of the Commonwealth of Two Nations and in Political Debates in later eras). She was planning another trip to the Vatican Library as part of the project. She died suddenly on 20 August 2008 in Nidzica. She is buried at the Bródno Cemetery in Warsaw.
