Born on 10 July 1941 in Lublin; daughter of the chemist Stanisław Woźniakiewicz and Zofia, née Narzymska. In 1955/56, she attended the Maria Konopnicka Grammar School in Inowrocław before then continuing her secondary education at the Maria Konopnicka Grammar School in Lublin. After completing advanced secondary education in 1958, she studied Polish philology for an initial four years at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) and then at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin for one year. She graduated with a master's degree in 1963 and was appointed assistant at the Department of the History of Polish Literature in the Faculty of Humanities at UMCS (which in 1979 became the Department for Literary Theory at the Institute of Polish Philology). She was associated with this institution for the rest of her professional life. In her research, she focused initially on the history of nineteenth-century literature and then later on twenty-first-century literature and literary theory. She made her debut with an article, Działalność literacka koterii petersburskiej, a funkcjonowanie grupy (The Petersburg Coterie and the operations of the group), which was published in the edited volume Poetyka i historia (Poetics and History; Wroclaw, 1968). In 1972, she was awarded a doctoral degree from UMCS for her dissertation Między buntem a rezygnacją. O powieściach Narcyzy Żmichowskiej (Between Rebellion and Resignation: Narcyza Żmichowska's novels), which was supervised by Prof. Maria Żmigrodzka. She was subsequently appointed lecturer. She joined the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarity (NSZZ Solidarność) in 1980. Between 1999 and 2002, she was chair of the Union branch at UMCS. She received the Prize of the Minister of Science and Higher Education on three occasions (1982, 1987, and 1989). She was awarded a habilitation degree from UMCS in 1987 for her study Polityka i romantyczne struktury powieściowe (Politics and Romantic Novel Structures). Between 1987 and 1991, as part of a cooperation agreement with the Chair of Polish Language and Literature, at the University of Debrecen (then the Lajos Kossuth University), she was employed initially as a tutor in Polish language and then holder of the Chair. Her collaboration with the Polish studies programme in Debrecen, including through the organization of conferences. From 1992 to 2011, he was head of the Department of Literary Theory at UMCS. From 1993 to 2008, she was a member of the UMCS Senate. She was made state-appointed professor in 1999. Between 2000 and 2006, she was director of the Institute of Polish Philology at UMCS and coordinator of the Polish philology programme at the UMCS Undergraduate College in Radom. From 2003 to 2010, she was editor of "Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska. Sectio FF Philologiae", while from 2007 to 2011 she was a member of the editorial board of "Annales Instituti Slavici Universitatis Debrecensis Slavica". In 2004, she was appointed full professor at UMCS. She collaborated with Polish Radio in Lublin as a member of the jury of its annual competition for radio reports, while from 2003 to 2006 she also occasionally worked with Polish Television's Lublin Station, creating shows on current Polish literature. She regularly travelled abroad to Europe and the Middle East. She was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit in 1984. She married the sociologist Ryszard Dziadosz in 1963. She lives in Lublin.
