Born on 29 July 1977 in Jaworzno; daughter of Jerzy Kałuża and Halina, née Skoruś. She began a degree in Polish philology at the University of Silesia (UŚ) in Katowice in 1996. She made her debut in 2000 with a review of Jacek Posiadło's volume of poetry, Wychwyt Grahama [The Graham Escapement]. The review, titled Efekty oddaleń [The effects of distances], appeared in the monthly "Śląsk" (no. 6) After graduating with a master's degree in 2001, she was appointed to a post at the Institute of the Study of Polish Literature – INoLP (which from 2005 was named after Ireneusz Opacki and in 2009 became the Institute of Literary Studies) at UŚ. She was awarded a doctoral degree in 2005 for her dissertation Podmiotowa odrębność. Rymkiewicz, Hartwig, Wirpsza [Subjective difference: Rymkiewicz, Hartwig, Wirpsza]. It was supervised by Prof. Stefan Szymutko. In her research, she has focused primarily on contemporary poetry and art, investigating in particular the aesthetic transformation of artistic forms, as well as the connections between textuality and visuality. She has published numerous reviews and essays in periodicals including "FA-art" (2000-09, 2012, and 2014), "Śląsk" (2000-06), "Akcent" (2001-02), "Nowe Książki” (2002-16), "Opcje" (2001-2003, 2012-13, 2015, 2017, and 2019), "Studium" (2002-07), "Twórczość" (2002-07 and 2013), "Dekada Literacka" (2005-07), "Tygodnik Powszechny" (2007-19,), "Dodatek Literacki. Gazeta Nagrody Literackiej Gdynia” (2008-2009 and 2011), and "Pamiętnik Literacki" (2008). She has also collaborated with the online portal Witryna Czasopism.pl (2001-2004) and the online magazines Dwutygodnik.com (2016-2017, 2019) and "Magazyn Wizje" (2020). She participated in literary programmes broadcast on Polish Television's Kultura station, acting as a reviewer on the show Czytelnia (Reading room; 2010-11), as a co-host (alongside Andrzej Franaszek and Wojciech Bonowicz) on Sztuka czytania (The Art of reading; 2013-2015) and on Cappuccino z książką (A cappuccino and a book; 2014-2015; alongside Sylwia Chutnik and Karolina Sulej). She was awarded a habilitation degree from UŚ for her study Wielkie wygrane. Wspólne sprawy poezji, krytyki i estetyki [Great gains: Commonalities of poetry, criticism and aesthetics]. She was appointed associate professor at UŚ. She served as deputy director of the Institute of Literary Studies at UŚ. She has participated in literary festivals including the Sopot Literary Festival (2013), the Miłosz Festival (2016), the Jan Błoński Festival: Literary Testimonies (Świadectwa Literatury; 2017), the 24th edition of Literary Stations (Stacje Literatury; 2019), the Conrad Festival (2018 and 2021), and the Silesius International Poetry Festival (2020). In 2016, she joined the chapter of the Witold Gombrowicz Prize, while also serving in the same role on the Juliusz Upper Silesian Literary Prize between 2016 and 2018. From 2019 until 2021, she was a juror on the Silesius Wroclaw Poetry Prize. In 2020/21, she acted as an internal reviewer for the Biuro Literackie publishing house. She was involved in literary events as part of the 2018 Krakowice (held in Krakow and Katowice) UNESCO Creative Cities Network Annual Meeting. In 2021, she participated in the series of events titled "Wszystkie słowa na P" (All the words beginning with P) organized by the Krakow Festival Office, which put together the Krakow UNESCO City of Literature programme. In 2020, she was appointed associated dean for teaching and student affairs at the Faculty of Humanities at UŚ. The same year, she was appointed editor-in-chief of the Polish studies journal "Śląskie Studia Polonistyczne", where she was already deputy editor and contributor (intermittently since 2011). As part of open seminars organized by the journal, she conducted interviews with authors. She lives in Jaworzno.
