BIO
Born on 5 May 1963 in Warsaw; son of the poet and literary critic Zbigniew Bieńkowski and the poet Małgorzata Hillar. He was a pupil at the Mikołaj Rej Grammar School (No. 11) in Warsaw, completing his advanced secondary education in 1982. He studied psychology at the University of Warsaw (UW), graduating with a master's degree in 1988. He subsequently worked as a psychotherapist and business psychologist. In 2000 he started collaborating as a therapist with Zespół Pomocy Psychoterapeutycznej (a psychotherapy advisory team) in Warsaw. He also collaborated with Fundacja Rodzić po Ludzku (Childbirth with Dignity Foundation). He became a member of Polskie Towarzystwo Psychoterapii Psychoanalitycznej (Polish Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy) and an associated member of Polskie Towarzystwo Psychoanalityczne (Polish Psychoanalytical Association). At the same time, his literary career began in 2001 with the publication of his novel "Jest" (It is). He has published articles intermittently in the weekly magazine "Polityka" since 2009. He is married and has two children. He lives in Warsaw.
